Wedding Photography in Cumbria

Contemporary Wedding photography

As a professional wedding photographer my approach on the day is natural unobtrusive but considered, I have good equipment and 350 weddings under my belt so I know how a wedding flows, because of this I can photograph using natural light, so retaining the natural character of the moment being calm and with a respect for the occasion and not flooding the room with a flash at any given moment.

The wedding photography industry has matured over the last decade and my clients are more likely to be looking for a creative contemporary style. Whether you call it reportage, natural photography, photojournalist or documentary photography, the genre has shifted as couples are far more image literate now and seek a visual narration and not wedding photography that is obviously posed, wooden and repetitive.

Documentary style wedding photography

The essence of great documentary or photojournalist wedding photography is to follow the day without creating contrived situations and by simply observing and anticipating. I would be short sighted, however, if I thought you would not want the odd family photograph or portrait in the mix at some point so these are all up for discussion when we meet and discuss your plans for your wedding. As a general rule, 80% of the photographs taken on your wedding day are pure documentary. The only thing that should be wooden in your photographs is the furniture!

The 'Big' Day!

Every wedding is a 30 hour job there is a process within my work during your wedding that ensures that your day is covered comprehensively and delivered to you in a professional album or Book. The task of a serious documentary wedding photographer is not that of rocking up on the day with a fancy camera and taking a few clever snaps, it’s a huge responsibility, I am commissioned to quietly observe and create a visual record of your wedding day as it’s a truly exceptional one of a kind family memoir.

Cumbria and the Lake District are incredible venues for weddings

Cumbria and the Lake District are incredible venues for weddings so as I am based locally I find them the perfect locations for wedding photography. Lake District weddings are becoming ever more popular for destination weddings for couples from both home and abroad. I have also been commissioned to produce documentary photography for weddings not only in Cumbria and the Lake District but also Lancashire, Scotland, Northumberland and throughout Northern England and the UK.

I am certainly not the most expensive wedding photographer in the Lake District but I am not the cheapest either so please just look through the images on my website and my natural contemporary approach and see if I’m right for you. Most of my clients budget high on their wedding photographs because the photographs are a priority, but variety is the spice of life so whether you click on to the next photographer or commission me, either way I wish you all the best for your very special day and your new life together.
