Gemma & Paul

I met this lovely couple quite a long time ago for very different reasons Gemma was very much a favourite teacher of my children as they went through primary school and I met Paul back in 2011 when I did the wedding photography for his sisters wedding so I was more than delighted to be asked to take their wedding photographs at Le Petit Chateau in Northumberland. It was my first visit to this relatively new wedding venue. Le Petit Chateau is a French-inspired venue bursting to the seams with both shabby chic and elegance. The gardens too were a lovely surprise as often a wedding in early April before any of the trees burst into life are lets say a green free zone, but not here, they have an abundance of palms and tropical plants that somehow brave the Northumberland climate and as the weather was so kind to us that day we had the luxury of much of the reception outside to enjoy it, another warm and still April wedding, I am having a fabulous sunny start to the year!

Gemma’s words

“Paul and I met through mutual friends on a night out in Carlisle whilst he was still at University in Newcastle. Since then we have enjoyed many holidays together and it was on holiday in Cannes, where he proposed on our balcony.
Initially we planned on marrying abroad in Italy, however we knew that all of our special people wouldn’t be able to attend the wedding. It was when I was flicking through a magazine that I fell in love with our wedding venue Le Petit Chateau, in Otterburn. Paul and I visited and we both agreed that was the perfect place for us to get married it was just what we were looking for!

My absolute highlight of the day was walking into the beautiful ceremony room and seeing everyone that I cared about especially our 20 month old son, Joshua.
Another highlight was the last dance that our band (the fantastic) 3 River City played- so memorable! Paul and I had the most amazing day, and can’t believe how quickly the day passed, that is why it is so lovely to have the wonderful photographs that Helen has taken.”
